Three days built around the best-known tiger reserve in Rajasthan. We collect you in Udaipur and drive straight to Sawai Madhopur on the edge of Ranthambore — a long transit day, honestly a travel day and not a sightseeing one — in time for the afternoon safari. Two nights at the park give you four drives in all: an evening, a full day of morning and afternoon, and a final morning before the road back.
A private air-conditioned car and a local driver carry you both ways; the safaris are in the park’s own open vehicles with a naturalist and a forest guide. Ranthambore runs on a zone-and-permit system, so we book your safari slots in advance and plan the days around them.
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1
Into Tiger Country
A long drive north-east and straight into the reserve — around 390 km from Udaipur to Sawai Madhopur, on the edge of Ranthambore. We pick you up early, keep the road moving with a lunch stop, and aim to reach in time for the afternoon safari.
- Drive: Udaipur → Ranthambore — Around 390 km, roughly 7–8 hours on the highway. We break the drive once or twice. An early start; a straight transit day with a lunch break, not a sightseeing drive. Reach Sawai Madhopur by early afternoon.
- Check-in near the park — Into your hotel on the edge of the reserve, with just enough time to freshen up before the gates open for the afternoon drive.
- Evening safari — Your first drive, into the afternoon light in an open canter or gypsy with a naturalist and a forest guide. Around 3 hours; carry a jacket — the open vehicle gets cold as the sun drops.
Day 2
A Full Day of Safaris
The heart of the trip — a morning drive and an afternoon drive into the reserve, when the tigers are most active. Between them, the option of the hilltop fort and the Ganesh temple inside the park.
- Morning safari — Out at first light, when sightings are best, into your allotted zone. A different zone can be drawn from the afternoon, which is part of the appeal — more of the park. Around 3 hours.
- Ranthambore Fort & Trinetra Ganesh (optional) — A 10th-century hill fort inside the reserve and the Trinetra Ganesh temple within it, a living shrine that still draws pilgrims. An easy midday option between the two drives.
- Afternoon safari — The second drive of the day, into the afternoon light and, where allotted, a fresh zone. Around 3 hours. Back to the hotel for the evening.
Day 3
Morning Safari & Return
One more drive at the best hour of the day, then breakfast and the long road back to Udaipur.
- Morning safari — A final dawn drive — the best odds of the trip are always at first light. Around 3 hours before breakfast.
- Breakfast & check-out — Back to the hotel to eat and pack at an easy pace.
- Drive: Ranthambore → Udaipur — Around 390 km, roughly 7–8 hours on the highway. We break the drive once or twice. The return transit, with a lunch stop, arriving Udaipur by evening. If you would rather carry on from Sawai Madhopur by train (the main Delhi–Mumbai line) or to Jaipur, tell us at booking and we will plan the day for it.

Good to know
- The order of stops may be adjusted for traffic, weather and monument timings — the route is planned for comfort, not a rigid clock.
- Several monuments and museums have fixed timings or weekly closures; boat rides, ropeways and temple darshan run to their own schedules. These are confirmed at the time of booking.
- 3-star and 4-star hotels and daily breakfast are included as standard. Lunches and dinners are not, unless listed under inclusions.
- Tigers are wild. Ranthambore has among the better sighting rates in India, but no one can promise a tiger — and any operator who does is selling you something they don’t have.
- Safaris run at fixed morning and afternoon times on a zone-and-permit system booked in advance. Zones are allotted by the forest department, not chosen — we book as early as we can to get the best of them.
- The park is open roughly October to June. Core zones close in the monsoon (about July to September); we will tell you honestly what is running for your dates.
- Days 1 and 3 are long transit days — around 390 km each way between Udaipur and the park. We start early and keep the road moving.
- Tell us your onward train, bus or flight timing and we will re-order the final day so nothing is rushed.

Common questions
Will we definitely see a tiger?
No one can promise that, and anyone who does is selling you something they don’t have. Ranthambore has among the best sighting rates in India, but tigers are wild animals and the forest is large.
How do the safaris work?
Ranthambore runs on a zone-and-permit system. Drives are at fixed morning and afternoon times in open canters or gypsies with a naturalist and forest guide; zones are allotted by the forest department and booked in advance, so we reserve as early as we can.
Can the itinerary be customised?
Yes — this is a starting point. Add a night, swap a stop, or extend the route. Tell us what you’d like and we’ll adjust the plan.
Are hotels included?
Yes. Hotels are included as standard, on twin-sharing basis, with daily breakfast. You choose the category at booking and we’ll show you options at different price points.
When is the best time to do this trip?
October to March has the most comfortable weather. The trip runs year-round; in summer we plan early starts to avoid the midday heat.
